Hi Ellen, I just love that African flower, and your idea of making a pin cushion with two pieces is a perfect way to give it a try! thanks so much for sharing on Craft Schooling Sunday!
Lovely idea for the lovely African Flower motif! I am making a shawl with top stitching that allows me to hang individual motifs dangling from a chain of stitch. I make different colors, so that I can make the denim shades of blue w/black stitching match the color of top I am wearing that day with my blue jeans. I call these interchangeable motifs 'charms'. Like you wear on a charm bracelet! Anyway, I have made a charm from the African Flower motif, and it is two-sided, in case it turns backwards from movement. I did not stuff it. I also use the charms as front ties to close the shawl, instead of a shawl pin. I call it my "Blue Charm Shawl". I am a beginner, and do not blog, but recently started trying Google plus with a crochet 'circle' to put up some pics of my shawl and its progress. Sorry comment is long. I am just so happy about your beautiful crochet! I had to share my idea for the Afrinan Flower. :-)
